2014_Auction8Boys & Girls Club Auction a great value for ticket holders Valley View Medical Center continues as the exclusive title sponsor Laughlin, Nev. – There truly is something for everyone at the 24th Annual Boys & Girls Clubs of the Colorado River “Bids for Kids” Auction, presented by Valley View Medical Center. With a reputation as one of the area’s most successful and longest running events, the upcoming “Bids for Kids” Auction is scheduled for Friday, January 30 at the Aquarius Casino Resort in Laughlin. The event takes place from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm (AZ time), 5:00 pm –
8:00 pm (NV Time). Advance tickets are selling for $25 per person ($30 at the door), with a table for ten going for $250. Tickets include dinner and dessert; a silent auction will also be held in conjunction with the live event and the always popular “Bids for Kids” format, benefiting the Club’s After School Program Assistance Fund. “This event is always held the same weekend as the Super Bowl and we want to especially thank Valley View Medical Center for year three of their three year commitment as title sponsor, and of course the Aquarius for their tremendous support as well,” BGCCR President and CEO Teri Tomlinson said. She added that “the popular sports memorabilia everyone has grown to count on at our event will be back.” Other popular items are returning and will be auctioned live: Southwest Airlines and JetBlue airline tickets, as well as Disneyland/California Adventure Park hopper passes that have been donated. Other appealing travel items include Grand Canyon Railway passes, which consist of two round-trip tickets from Williams to the South Rim; for those people playing closer to home, Brenden Theatres at the Avi kicked in a 52-week movie package, which enables two people to see one movie a week for an entire year. “The ‘Bids for Kids’ Auction is by far our largest fundraiser of the year,” BGCCR Volunteer Chairman of the Board Jeremy Brunk said. “This event generates much needed funding for both of our clubs, as well as scholarship funding for kids in Bullhead City, Fort Mohave and Laughlin. It’s such a fun way to continue to help the children in the Tri-State area. “This community – especially our businesses – has always been very supportive of the auction.  Not to mention, many people leave the event with some very unique, high quality items,” Brunk added. One reason for the continued success of the auction is the efficiency of the electronic check-in/check-out system, which the Club integrated into the event three years ago. “The software we use makes it so much easier for everyone at the end of the night,” Tomlinson said. “When our supporters arrive, they have the choice of registering with us electronically, which also assigns their bidder and paddle number. After the event is over and as they’re checking out, any items they’ve won through the silent or live auctions will be in the system and can be purchased right there at the event – our supporters then go home with those items in-hand.” This year’s event kicks off the Club’s 27th year in the community, which commemorates the organization receiving its national charter from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in March of 1988. Boys & Girls Club Hall of Fame member Gil Giffords returns for the 24th straight year as the live auctioneer. For more information regarding ticket and table packages, go online to www.clubriver.org or access the event’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/clubriver.
