Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report at the Mohave County Jail Friday (1/9) afternoon regarding an assault on a Detention Officer by an inmate. Approximately 2:00 p.m., deputies contacted the victim, a Detention Officer. The DO said that she contacted an inmate inside her cell due to the inmate’s lack of showering. The DO further said that the inmate took a fighting stance and became combative. The DO reported that the inmate kicked at her, grabbed her hair and grabbed her neck. After a brief struggle, the inmate was taken into control. Deputies observed red marks on the officer’s neck and throat. Deputies contacted inmate Janet Rose Driggs, 52, of Fort Mohave. During conversations with Driggs, she felt she was being attacked so she went into attack mode. Driggs was charged with aggravated assault on detention officer and aggravated assault impedes breathing, felonies.
