Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested John Taylor Thornton, 40, of Colorado City, and Merrill Ethan Barlow, 27, of Centennial Park, late Sunday (12/14) afternoon. Thornton and Barlow were arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors. Approximately 4:25 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on South 2040 East and Cane Beds Road. Deputies contacted Thornton, the driver, and Barlow, the passenger. Deputies observed a glass pipe with residue sticking partially out of Barlow’s jacket he was wearing. Deputies questioned Barlow and he handed the pipe to the deputy. Deputies also found Barlow to be in possession of marijuana located inside a glass jar. Barlow was taken into custody without incident. Deputies had Thornton exit the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a baby food jar containing marijuana residue. Deputies located marijuana across the driver’s floorboard. Thornton was taken into custody without incident. They were transported and booked into the Mesquite Jail. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
