money-launderingMohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested three California residents early Friday (10/9) afternoon.  Jose Gonzalez, 24, of Lemoore, was arrested for money laundering, felony, and driving with a suspended license, misdemeanor.

Jose Benito Anaya, 46, of El Cajon, was arrested for money laundering, felony.  Georgia Sapien, 22, of Garden Grove, was arrested for false report to law enforcement and possession of open liquor container in vehicle, misdemeanors. 

Approximately 1:23 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 15 at milepost 27 and contacted Gonzalez, the driver.  Gonzalez advised that his license is suspended.  A records check confirmed Gonzalez to have a suspended driver’s license.  Deputies contacted the front seat female passenger who identified herself with a false name.  Eventually, the female subject identified herself as Sapien.  Sapien was taken into custody without incident.  Deputies determined that Sapien was in possession of an open beer inside the vehicle.  An inventory search of the vehicle revealed a C02 replica of a Beretta handgun inside a duffle bag.  Inside another duffle bag, deputies located three bundles of U.S. currently wrapped with rubber bands.  Approximately $12,000 was seized.  Gonzalez and Anaya were taken into custody without incident.  They were transported and booked into the Mesquite Jail. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
