duiMohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Alex John Toth III, 71, of Desert Hills, Friday (1/9) evening for DUI, a misdemeanor.  At about 8:30 p.m., deputies responded to the area of Mescalero Drive and Kenneth Lane regarding a non-injury accident involving two vehicles. Upon arrival, deputies observed a white Chevrolet Malibu had come to a rest in a deep flood drainage dip.  The other vehicle had left the scene.  Deputies contacted the female driver of the Malibu and she advised that she was not injured.  The female driver said that Toth, her boyfriend, was driving the other vehicle which collided with her vehicle. The female driver further said that Toth helped her out of her vehicle and made sure she was okay before he left to find something to help him tow her vehicle.  Lake Havasu Police Officer responded and assisted.  Deputies contacted Toth as he was walking back to the scene.  Deputies observed Toth to be swaying and staggering as he was walking.  Deputies smelled a strong odor of alcohol on Toth.  During conversations with Toth, he admitted to have been drinking as he was on his way home from the bar prior to the accident.  Toth refused to perform the field sobriety tests (FST’s) as requested by deputies.  Toth was taken into custody and transported to the Mohave County District III Substation where he also refused to submit to a breath analysis.  A blood sample was taken from Toth to be submitted to the DPS Crime Lab for further analysis.  He was transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail without incident.  The vehicle was towed from the scene.  Toth’s girlfriend declined to press charges regarding the accident.
