Arizona
parents now know what testing protocol will be replacing the AIMS test as the
state board of education announces that Arizona’s Measurement of Educational Readiness,
or AZMERIT, is the new test to measure students’ knowledge of Reading, Writing
and Mathematics.

State Department of Education
Executive Director Christine Thompson says that despite the progression of
these standards, through AIMS, Common Core and now Arizona’s College and Career
Readiness Standards, parents should “have faith” in the new test. The
not-for-profit American Institutes for Research, AIR, is getting the nearly $19,000,000
contract to develop and implement the new test in both a paper and on-line
version, which will be administered statewide for the first time next Spring.
