Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Joe Allen Hughes, 43, of Kingman, early Friday (2/13) evening for aggravated assault, felony. Approximately 5:55 p.m., deputies responded to a 911 call at a residence in the 4100 block of North Pinal Street. Upon arrival, deputies observed a male subject sitting outside on the front porch with blood on his face. Deputies further observed the male subject’s right eye was swollen with a cut near his eye. Deputies contacted the male subject identified as a 64-year-old male victim. The victim and his wife said that Hughes, their son, assaulted his father and left the house on foot with a gun. The victim said that he and Hughes had been drinking. The victim reported that they were having dinner when Hughes got upset and started punching him in the face. The witness said that Hughes punched his father about six times. Medical responded and transported the victim to Kingman Regional Medical Center. The victim suffered a broken nose. Shortly thereafter, Hughes was taken into custody without incident after deputies located him near a wash in the area of Powell Avenue and Benton Street. The .22 caliber gun was taken and placed in evidence pending the County Attorney’s Review. Hughes was taken into custody without incident. He was transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail.
