Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested David Richard Navarro, 45, of Mohave Valley, early Tuesday (1/6) morning for aggravated DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia, felonies. At about 12:45 a.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Laguna Road. Deputies were assisted by a K9 Officer from the Fort Mohave Tribal Police Department. Deputies contacted Navarro, the driver. Deputies observed Navarro having difficulty maintaining his balance as he exited the vehicle as requested. Deputies smelled an odor of alcohol on Navarro. Deputies observed Navarro’s eyes were watery and red and his speech was slurred. The Fort Mohave Tribal K9 Officer deployed his K9 to conduct a sniff of the vehicle. The K9 alerted his handler to the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a glass pipe with burnt residue. Navarro was taken into custody without incident. Navarro was transported to the Mohave County District II Substation where he refused to submit to a breath analysis. A blood sample was taken from Navarro to be submitted to the DPS Crime Lab for further analysis. A records check revealed Navarro to have prior DUI arrests. Navarro was transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
