City attorney Carl Cooper is impacted by both executive sessions conducted by the Kingman City council on Tuesday, September 6. At the conclusion of the first closed door huddle, the Council instructed Cooper to contract for an independent legal opinion on the property lease between the City and the Kingman Airport Authority.

Cooper said it’ll take him a couple of weeks to identify lawyers or firms that are qualified for the job. He said the scope of work would have to be better defined before it’s clear how much the legal review might cost.

At the end of the second executive session of the Council, members voted to approve a two year extension of Cooper’s contract. Cooper said a $19,000 raise will take him to an annual salary of $125,000, which he said is on the low end of the pay scale comparatively.
