Life just got easier for those boarding a flight at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport’s Terminal 3, as the airport’s Sky Train opened for business at noon Monday amid lots of fanfare. Mayor Greg Stanton, (foreground) among those who went on the inaugural run
of the commuter’s new stop, which now links all three terminals and provides a stop outside the airport facing the Metro light rail station.
Stanton raves, the extended route will cut down on the number of vehicles lining up at the curb to drop off or pick up passengers. “This is how people are going to interact at Sky Harbor in the future, “the Mayor says. “This is the future”.
Airlines serviced at Terminal 3 include Delta, Frontier, Jet Blue, Hawaiian, Spirit and Sun Country. Eventual plans call for extending the Sky Train all the way to the car rental center. The first leg of the Sky Train opened at terminal four in Spring 2013.
