Prescott Police arrest a handyman for allegedly fleecing a man who hired the suspect. Lieutenant Amy Bonney says the victim hired 62 year old John Feckanin (pictured) for work around the house. After Feckanin did some repairs and received payment, Bonney says, the suspect them asked the
homeowner several times to loan him money, telling the victim he’d pay him back after receiving his inheritance from Ohio.
Over a year’s time, the personal loans grew to 163-thousand dollars. Bonney says, it finally dawned on the victim he was being taken when the suspect wrote him a check and it came back “insufficient funds.” Bonney says, it’s a typical case of taking advantage of an elderly person who was only trying to help what he thought was his friend.
Feckanin’s been booked into Yavapai County jail for Fraud and Issuing a Bad Check. Police believe he has more victims and would like to hear from them. If you’ve had a similar experience with Feckanin, you’re urged to contact Detective John Hanna at Prescott Police at 928-777-1961.
