River Medical Parties to the matter are submitting final legal arguments today in the Golden Valley Fire District’s (GVFD) pursuit of a certificate to provide ambulance service. It was disclosed at the Governing Board meeting two days prior that the District has invested nearly $580,000 in the endeavor. Supporters argue that the GVFD can improve the service currently provided by River Medical, and do so at a profit. Critics contend the contentious fire district is ill-equipped to handle the job and that the venture will operate at a deficit and as a burden upon taxpayers. The administrative law judge presiding over the matter will prepare a recommendation for a final determination that Department of Health Services Director Will Humble is expected to render early this spring.
