Are you participating in Pat’s Run Saturday? With Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe undergoing renovations, there won’t be the traditional finish at the 42 yard line this year, but outside in the north parking lot. Michelle Mc Carthy with the Pat Tillman Foundation says, she hopes that fact won’t
dampen spirits, but she reminds runners, “ it’s not where you’re finishing, but who you’re finishing for.” Money raised from the race goes into scholarships for veterans.
In addition to the Tempe’s flagship race, 30 shadow runs are taking place nationwide in memory of the football star turned soldier. Tillman was an A-S-U student and played for the Sun Devils before moving on to the Arizona Cardinals. At the height of a successful career in the N-F-L, he quit and enlisted in the Army after 9-11 in 2002. Two years later, he was killed in an ambush in Afghanistan.
Adult race registration is $50.00. The Kids Run is $10.00.
