PHOENIX – Most of the students at Children’s First Academy in Phoenix have a place to sleep at night – but that doesn’t mean they’re not homeless. School officials said students may not be on the street but may be shuttled from house to house and couch to couch as their families, many of them below the poverty line, struggle. While officials said the state is making progress, Arizona was still ranked among the worst states child homelessness in a recent report by the National Center on Family Homelessness.
