Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio would like the Reverend Al Sharpton to vicariously experience what it’s like to be an officer. So he’s putting out the welcome mat for the civil rights leader to come to Phoenix to get use of force training from M-C-S-O.
The Sheriff says Sharpton, who’s been too quick to bash law enforcement, including M-C-S-O in past years because of Arpaio’s immigration sweeps, needs to see for himself how difficult it is making those snap decisions involving life and death.
Although the Sheriff calls it an invitation, it’s not like he made a direct request to Sharpton. Arpaio says he made the announcement through the media and he figures Sharpton must have heard about the request by now.
