An arson suspect is holed up in his Phoenix apartment after allegedly setting his girlfriend’s apartment on fire. Sergeant Vince Lewis with Phoenix Police says an apartment went up in flames overnight and Phoenix firefighters alerted police to the possibility the fire was intentionally set. Witnesses tipped off police
to a possible suspect who may have set the place ablaze. Police went to the suspects home down the street from the blaze. The suspect barricaded himself inside and is refusing to come out. Two people inside the suspect’s apartment have left the home and are talking to police. Police have blocked off the area around 40th Street and McDowell as the stand-off continues. Lewis says it appears to “stem from a domestic violence situation” where the suspect used to live in the apartment that was set on fire. No one was hurt in the blaze.
