His Chief Deputy will serve out the office term of the late Mohave County Assessor Ron Nicholson. Nicholson succumbed to undisclosed health issues in late May.

Chief Deputy Ken Fielder told county supervisors during their June 6 Board meeting that he would abide by any decision they might make, but that continuity and certainty was important to the Assessors Office and those who work within.

“The office is running very smoothly. It has for a long time,” Fielder said. “It will continue for the next six months until you get a new assessor.”

Fielder was appointed Assessor by a unanimous vote of the Board. He is not among a group of three republicans seeking the position in the August primary election.
