JOHN RICHTERBULLHEAD CITY-A Bullhead City man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly trying to kill his girlfriend during a domestic disturbance in the 1600 block of Turquoise Road, according to authorities.
John Richter, 26, was arrested by Bullhead City Police after they were disptatched Wednesday around 6:30 p.m. to the home off Turquoise Road after Richter reportedly got into an argument with his live-in girlfriend, said Bullhead City Police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt.
Fromelt said that during the fight, the victim reported he pushed her to the ground and pointed a handgun at her. The victim told police that she ran to the bedroom and Richter fired the weapon in her direction and the bullet reportedly struck the wall.
Fromelt said the victim then hid in the bedroom with her 3-year-old son. Richter allegedly forced open the bedroom door and chased the victim, who was holding the boy, throughout the apartment threatening her with the firearm, pointing it at her. Richter then fled the apartment prior to police arriving on scene.
Police located Richter driving on Silver Creek Road a couple of hours later and was allegedly found to be in possession of a handgun and a rifle, said Fromelt.
He was booked into the Mohave County jail in Kingman for attempted 2nd degree murder per domestic violence, aggravated assault per domestic violence, endangerment per domestic violence, disorderly conduct with a weapon per domestic violence and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
