A young woman has died of injuries sustained when her vehicle was struck by a school bus in Bullhead City Monday. Bullhead City police said the crash on the Bullhead Parkway at the north Oatman road intersection occurred at 4:00 p.m.
Agency spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said the the bus reportedly ran a red light, striking a 2002 Dodge Neon that was turning left onto the Parkway. The critically injured driver of the Neon, Mikinzie Cassandra Watts, 25, was airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas where she died Monday night.
The Kingman Unified School District bus was transporting 15 middle school girls from Kingman to a volleyball match at the time of the accident. Neither the students nor the bus driver, Joseh Charles Harris, 45, were injured.
School District Superintendent Roger Jacks said Harris was placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Police said charges are pending.
