A pedestrian was killed when struck by a tractor trailer at a truck stop in Kingman Sunday, June 4. Deputy Kingman Police Chief Rusty Cooper said the fatality occurred at 6:00 a.m. at the business in the 3300 block of East Andy Devine Avenue.

The name of the 54-year-old man who was dead at the scene of the accident is withheld pending notification of kin.

“The driver of the tractor trailer was maneuvering the truck towards the fuel islands and did not see the pedestrian,” Cooper said. “The angle of the sun and the actions of the pedestrian are believed to be factors in the accident.”

Cooper said additional information regarding the behavior of the pedestrian “could” be forthcoming. He said the truck driver will not be charged, though the investigation continues..
