The body of a person reported missing Monday was recovered Wednesday from the Topock Gorge area of the Colorado River. The Mohave County Sheriff’s office said foul play is not suspected and that it is believed that the death of Ricky Dean Crea, 32, Topock, was accidental in nature.
Crea was reported missing Monday by a friend who was to have met him Sunday near the Topock Marina. Sheriff’s spokeswoman Trish Carter said the woman indicated that she found Crea’s parked vehicle, and some of his belongings by the river, but that Crea never showed up for their meeting.
Carter said Crea’s shoes and shirt were found on the river bank and that investigators think he went under while wading or swimming. His body was located about four miles down river at about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday.
An autopsy is pending at the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office.
