Homeland Security agents in Nogales are now acting to
stop smugglers who dig tunnels before they can get their illegal cargo of drugs
and people into Arizona.  Assistant Special
Agent in Charge Frank Burrola says the challenge is on the Mexico side of the
border, where starting the tunnels is not illegal and officials are less than
enthusiastic about addressing them.

says that this effort works well because all law enforcers in the area work
well together on the in-depth investigations required to find these tunnels and
shut them down before they are completed and in operation.  Burrola says they have been running this
tunnel task force since 2012 and it has resulted in the discovery of several
tunnels and 10 people have been prosecuted by the feds as a result.
