A Kingman man faces charges arising from his alleged abuse of his girlfriend’s son earlier this month. An investigation began after the ten year old boy complained to school staff that he was suffering abdominal pain.

Deputy Kingman Police Chief Rusty Cooper said it was learned that Jordan Garten, 29, allegedly struck the boy in the stomach with a hammer.  The hammer was located in Garten’s home in the 3300 block of N. Cypress Street.

Five children ranging from nine months to ten years of age were removed from the home during a joint investigation that also involved the Department of Children Safety. Garten was arrested and jailed on August 15 and the victim was released after he was treated for his injury.
