youth basketballAn annual sports tradition that has drawn participation from boys and girls across the Tri-State for well over two decades is currently open to interested players. Boys and Girls Clubs of the Colorado River Director of Operations & Community Outreach Tommy Bigelow said the Clubs’ annual Youth Basketball League is once again open to youth in grades K through 6. The league’s title sponsor is Western Arizona Regional Medical Center. “Sign-ups will run through December 19th, no exceptions,” Bigelow said, adding that three divisions will separate the players and their skill levels. “We are always recruiting volunteers that want to help coach teams. Parents who want to come out to watch should also know we observe a strict code of conduct during the games.” Bigelow added that all the games will be played at Fox Creek Jr. high School, located on the Bullhead Parkway. The registration fee this season is $45, but the fee increase to $55 on December 12th.The fee includes a player’s uniform shirt, which will feature the league’s logo incorporated with the Western Arizona Regional Medical Center design on the front. “We usually see a large increase in the club membership during this time of year,” BGCCR President and CEO Teri Tomlinson said. “I think that’s because the league is such a bargain for parents and the way we run it – from teaching the fundamentals to the sportsmanship aspect – this is a fantastic starter league for any child.” This season will run from mid-January to mid-March. Age brackets will start with the “A Division” (grades K and 1st), “AA” (2nd and 3rd graders), and “AAA” (4th, 5th and 6th graders). For more information on how your child can participate in the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Colorado River Youth Basketball League, call the club’s Administrative Office at (928)763-1411.
