Arizona Department of Public Safety officers rescue an abducted California girl sought in an Amber Alert, cancelling the advisory and ending a harrowing one and a half days for the victim across two states. Bart Graves with the D-P-S says officers pulled over 22-year old Michael Malloch and 12-year old Cassidy Hayes on U.S. 89 South of Page Monday afternoon.
Cathedral City police were especially worried for Hayes because Malloch, the girl’s stepbrother, left behind a suicide note with an obsessive tone towards Cassidy. The girl is now being returned to her family. Graves says it soon became apparent the suspect drove into Arizona after a driver spotted a 2002 gold Subaru, later mentioned in the Amber Alert out of Riverside County, CA. Police believe the pair may have been headed to Massachusetts before being stopped.
