Trial is set Friday for a man who refused a city of Kingman directive to remove a yellow cargo container box from property he owns in the heart of the city. The city case against former Kingman City councilman Pat McBrayer will play out in municipal court before Judge Pro Tem Bill Burrows.

McBrayer had hoped to argue that the city made him a scapegoat and engaged in selective enforcement against him while ignoring other similar violations all across the city. Judge Burrows, however, in a pre-trial ruling last week, gutted McBrayer’s inconsistent enforcement defense, telling him the case is focused solely on the container on his property.

McBrayer said others who have cargo boxes on their property should be interested in the outcome of his case because he believes disparate treatment will continue after his trial. It’s scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.
