SCHOOLS BEGIN KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT THURSDAY

All four Bullhead City Elementary School District grade schools will be enrolling and registering new kindergarten students on March 30 for the fall semester.  The annual Kindergarten Round-Up  is for new students who will turn five years old by August 31 of this year. DOCTOR KAHN PILL ENTERPRISE INDICTMENT UNSEALED

Authorities have unsealed an indictment that alleges a Fort Mohave doctor wrote thousands of subscriptions to sell prescription drugs illegally in a half dozen states. Charged in the 21 count indictment are Dr. Shakeel Kahn, his wife Lyn Kahn and Paul Beland. The trio allegedly used Kahn’s former pain management specialty practice in Arizona and Wyoming to sell Oxycodone and other drugs to customers in those two states as well as Washington, Oregon, Kentucky and Massachusetts. CYLINDERS LOCATED IN FORT MOHAVE

The Mohave County Sheriff’s office is investigating the discovery of cylinders in Fort Mohave. Spokeswoman Trish Carter said a family that was target shooting at the rock quarry east of the landfill came upon the first cylinder the evening of January 3. Carter said a man shot the cylinder which exploded and damaged a vehicle and a side by side. No one was injured. Carter said sheriff’s deputies located a second cylinder on January 4 that was safely detonated by bomb squad personnel. The cylinders resemble a scuba tank and are about 24 inches in length. COUNTY SUPERVISOR MOSS SETS NEW YEAR’S PRIORITIES

Steve Moss said improving law enforcement and roads are his top priorities as he begins his second four year term as Mohave County supervisor. “Our criminal justice system and our road systems are not being adequately maintained,” Moss said. He introduces the matter for discussion at the Board’s first meeting of 2017. Moss said problems must be identified and prioritized before solutions are explored. COUNTY OPPOSES ALCOHOL FOR DREAM GIRLS DANCE CLUB

As it has before, the Mohave County Sheriff’s office is opposing an ownership effort to gain licensed approval for beer and wine consumption at Dream Girls, an adult entertainment dancer club on Highway 95 in Fort Mohave. The business has an application pending before the Arizona State Liquor Control Board, and Sheriff’s Captain Dean McKie urged Mohave County Supervisors to recommend denial during their December 5 Board meeting.
