SHERIFF MCCABE NAMES CHIEF DEPUTY

Sheriff  Jim McCabe announced today that Captain Greg Smith would be appointed Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy.  Greg Smith was hired as a Mohave County Deputy Sheriff in April 1985 and attended the Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy in Tucson, Arizona.  He graduated with high academic achievement.  Upon police certification he worked as a Patrol Deputy throughout Mohave County.  He was then assigned as a Jail Investigator upon the opening of the (then) new jail downtown.  He was later assigned as a Detective and worked homicides, sex crimes, robberies, and all other types of criminal investigations. In 1989 he was competitively promoted to Sergeant and worked as a first line supervisor in Patrol and Detectives countywide.  In 1990 he was competitively promoted to Captain.  He has managed patrol operations throughout Mohave County since then. During 1991/2 he attended and successfully completed the Arizona Law Enforcement Leadership Institute, a rigorous six week command staff training school co-sponsored by what is now the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training board and Arizona State University. He has taught criminal justice classes at Mohave Community College as an Associate Faculty member, and Constitutional Law and other classes at the M.C.C. and Western Arizona police academies. He has been tasked on two occasions to evaluate operations at the County Jail and provide written recommendations. He has been appointed as Acting Chief Deputy on multiple occasions during the absence of...

Kingman Field Operations The Arizona Game and Fish Department Region 3 office in Kingman is recruiting a lead volunteer coordinator to organize and direct a group of volunteers. This position will lead and oversee a group of volunteers supporting a variety of projects which can include: administrative/office support, customer services, public outreach, dove banding/biological data collection, fence and water projects, and outdoor volunteer opportunities. This position will be a liaison for volunteers and communicate with Department Leadership on a regular basis. Applicant should have excellent communication and people skills, be willing to give public presentations and conduct training. We are seeking applicants who have experience leading and motivating others to achieve goals.
