BREAKING NEWS—FORT MOHAVE DOCTOR ARRESTED; ILLEGAL PILL ENTERPRISE ALLEGED

   A Fort Mohave doctor is the focus of a multi-state DEA investigation into an alleged illegal prescription pill enterprise. The DEA said about $750,000 in cash, 49 weapons and eight vehicles were seized during November 15 searches at the home and office of Dr. Shakeel Kahn.    The DEA said another search warrant was executed at an undisclosed location in Fort Mohave and another in Wyoming.   Dr. Kahn and his wife, name undisclosed, were arrested Wednesday (Nov. 30) morning in Wyoming.    The DEA indicated more details and indictment information will be provided, possibly Thursday.    The Board of Medical Examiners...

Close balloting is evident in the budget override proposed for the Mohave Valley Elementary school district. The question is currently passing by a 32-vote margin (3,696-3,664).    Colorado River Union High School District voters have narrowly defeated a proposed bond issue (8,999-8,932). Winning school board seats were Kerry Burgess and Donna Williamson. Mohave Valley Elementary School District voters narrowly rejected a proposed budget override (3,415-3,345). Tommy Queen, Pete Van Rooy and Catherine Lopez-Rajaniemi claim seats on the Ft. COUNTY TARGETS MOSQUITOS AGAIN

Mosquito surveillance conducted this week by the Environmental Health Division (MCEHD) revealed several areas that met the protocol to conduct fogging. The MCEHD uses the CDC’s recommended matrix as a guide of when to fog. FOGGING: Adult Mosquito control application will begin on Wednesday evening November 2nd, around 6:00 pm, weather permitting.   Baron Pest Control was awarded the contract to provide larvicide and fogging services within Mohave County and will be conducting the ground fogging application.
