COUPLE QUARREL LEADS TO SHOOTING DEATH

Authorities said a woman shot and killed her live-in boyfriend during a Saturday fight at the home they shared in the western Arizona community of Golden Valley. Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Trish Carter said deputies responded at 10:00 a.m. to the incident at a residence in the 3300 block of N Aztec Drive. ANIMAL SHELTER INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

You might say it’s been a “rough” month for Hillarie Allison, the founder of the Rescue Unwanted Furry Friends (RUFF) animal shelter in Golden Valley. A series of inspections at the shelter in early December has Allison and Ruff under a microscope. It was disclosed during the December 19 board of supervisors meeting that criminal animal cruelty charges could result from an ongoing sheriff’s office investigation. RUFF ANIMAL SHELTER UNDER INVESTIGATION

Mohave County Sheriff’s Deputies, Animal Control Enforcement Officers executed a search warrant Thursday (12/8) afternoon at the residence of Hillarie Allison and animal sanctuary located in the 1400 block of Laguna Road.   Initial investigations began Tuesday (12/6) afternoon when Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Enforcement Officer responded to an animal welfare check in the 1400 block of Laguna Road.  At that time, Animal Control Officers took custody of one dog that was inside the house.  This female dog was taken to a local veterinarian as she was covered in ticks, emaciated, severely anemic and possibly needing a blood...

SOFT LOCKDOWN AT PRIVATE PRISON

  Investigation is underway at the privately operated state prison in Golden Valley where confrontations injured one inmate Sunday and another Monday night. Warden Jeff Wrigley said both inmates were returned to the facility following hospital treatment. Wrigley said some 900 inmates in five dormitories at the Cerbat unit of the prison were restricted from the recreation yard during a “soft lockdown”. He said about 40 lockdowns were implemented over the last 12 months, facilitating incident investigations and searches for contraband.
