ROAD MAINTENANCE

Monsoon season is in full swing and weather can change suddenly, sometimes resulting in sudden or unexpected flooding. Mohave County Public Works urges drivers to be aware of weather conditions and forecasts. In instances where County-maintained roads and streets sustain damage from monsoon weather, road maintenance crews will prioritize the repair, restoration, and cleanup of affected roads over some regularly scheduled maintenance activities. In the Arizona Strip, a blade will be working on Lime Kiln Rd. In the Meadview area, crews will be involved with storm cleanup and repairs. If time allows, workers will be patching potholes and road edges as needed.  In the Chloride/Dolan Springs area, blades will be doing storm repair on 2 nd St. from Chloride to Mineral Park, on Cottonwood Rd., and on Havasu Rd. and Pierce Ferry Rd. in Dolan Springs. In the Kingman area, crews in the Butler area will be repairing the catch basin at the intersection of Castle Rock Rd. and Northern Ave. Workers will also be cleaning and repairing storm damage from Sierra Rd. to Route 66. North of Kingman, a blade will be active on Calle Salinas before moving to the north end of Antares Rd. Off I-40 east of Kingman, a blade will be on Silver Springs Rd. before moving on to Austin Peak Rd. and Knight Creek Rd. In Golden Valley, the blades will be cleaning and...

Independent voter registration continues to rise

As the Primary Election approaches voters with no designated party affiliation continue to outnumber voters in recognized political parties. Since March 2014, the number of independent voters has risen by 18,201. In comparison the number of registered Democrats and Republicans fell by 16,036 and 7,447; respectively. Meanwhile, the Libertarian and Americans Elect parties grew slightly.  Arizona has four recognized political parties: Republican, Democratic, Libertarian and Americans Elect.  Registrants who decline to indicate a party preference or register with parties without recognized status are classified as “Other” by election officials but are widely referred to as “independents.” Statewide, overall voter registration decreased by 0.15%. This is attributed to the maintenance of the voter rolls by the counties. The latest voter registration figures compiled by county, congressional and legislative district are available on the Secretary of State’s website, www.azsos.gov or by calling...
