In final filings with the U.S. Department of Transportation, more than $945,000 has been committed in a local and regional campaign for matching pledges to help secure a federal air service grant for the Tri-State area. Officials from the Mohave County Airport Authority (MCAA) and Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport said the campaign has been a success, showing strong support to help match a proposed Federal Small Community Air Service Development Program (SCASDP) grant. Cash pledges exceeded $375,000, while in-kind pledges were more than $570,000, said MCAA president John Hastings. The cash pledges represent $255,000 raised locally, $100,000 in airport marketing support, and $20,000 in airport-related air service development projects with interested airlines. In-kind support, ranging from promotional materials to website information, represents $515,000 in local pledges plus $55,000 in fees the airport has agreed to waive for qualifying airlines as part of its industry-standard incentive package. The Airport will be applying for a $750,000 grant. The amount applied for is predicated on the amount collected in local pledge support. “’Local’ may be a misnomer,” noted Hastings. “In addition to the Tri-State area, we had support from people in other parts of the country who want the DOT to know that getting to and from our region by air should be easier and is commercially sustainable.” According to Airport Director Jeremy Keating, 160 letters of support were received for the grant...

Tropicana Entertainment Inc. Announces Sale of River Palms Resort and Casino in Laughlin, Nevada

Tropicana Entertainment Inc. (“Tropicana”) announces that its subsidiary companies Columbia Properties Laughlin, LLC (“CP Laughlin”) and CP Laughlin Realty, LLC (“CPL Realty”) entered into and simultaneously closed a sale and lease back transaction with Laughlin Hotel, LLC (“Laughlin Hotel”) and Nevada Restaurant Services, Inc. (“NRS” and, collectively with Laughlin Hotel, the “Buyers”). Pursuant to the terms of an asset purchase agreement, CP Laughlin and CPL Realty sold substantially all of the assets associated with the operation of the River Palms Casino in Laughlin, Nevada (“River Palms”) to the Buyers, in exchange for $6.75 million in cash. Concurrently with the execution and closing of the asset purchase agreement, CP Laughlin leased back River Palms for a period of up to ninety (90) days, subject to an additional thirty (30) day extension, and further subject to earlier termination rights.
