Firefighters are gaining the upper hand in the Cedar Fire burning south of Show Low. Spokeswoman Katy Gray says hot shot crews made huge strides in the last day. The fire is nearing 46-thousand acres with 61 percent containment. Crews are now working to black-line their way around the entire fire. Firefighters are
also scaling back and starting the process of handing the fire over to local crews early this. Pre-evacuation orders have been lifted the north of the fire for cities Show Low, Pinetop, Hon-dah and McNary. However, pre-evacuation orders remain for the southern area including Cedar Creek.
