The U.S. Department of Labor has implemented significant changes in the salary levels of exempt employees and the changes take effect in December. In an effort to help Lake Havasu City businesses learn the new regulations, the Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce and the Lake Havasu Hospitality Association have partnered to present a special business workshop addressing the topic.
The event will be held Thursday, Nov. 3 in the Sunset Grill Dining Room at the Quality Inn, 271 S. Lake Havasu Avenue.
The workshop will run from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Presenter is local accountant Mike Bonney. Lunch will be included in the program’s admission: $10 for members of the Chamber and the Hospitality Association. The general public is also encouraged to attend, and general admission is $15.
The workshop will address the issues that will apply to the majority of workers in Lake Havasu City and across the country, including the changes to exempt and non-exempt wages and defines employment categories where the changes apply.
Bonney is the managing partner at GDK CPA LLC, a local accounting firm. He has over 28 years experience in public accounting. Bonney currently chairs the Chamber’s Board of Directors as well as the Hospitality Association Board. He is chair-elect of the Lake Havasu City Rotary Club; and is a board member of the Lake Havasu Chamber Foundation for Education and Leadership. Bonney is also a past treasurer and chair for River Cities United Way and is actively involved with Frontier Communication’s America’s Best Communities local team.
