The annual Educator Appreciation mixer sponsored the Lake Havasu Area Chamber presents opportunities for educators and business people to meet on an informal basis and strengthen the relationship between education and business.
This year’s event is Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the London Bridge Resort Convention Center, open to any teacher in Lake Havasu City, especially new teachers – it’s estimated that there will be about 50 newcomers to local schools this year.

“Our members sponsor the event so that local teachers can come and enjoy the evening and relax; we’re looking for sponsors now, said Kathy Tippett, Chamber Director of Administration and Technology.

Participants will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and refreshments while mingling during the event, meeting with member business sponsors showcasing their products and services, at tables placed throughout the center.

The Chamber supports and endorses the November $49,050,000 bond election and the budget override ballot question, says President/CEO Lisa Krueger. The override is based on 75 percent of the projected Revenue Control Limit – the budget, in effect – at $3.9 million the first five years, dropping one-third of the limit in the sixth year, and two-thirds in the seventh and final year.

The Chamber also wants to bolster its union with education as part of the citywide Vision 20/20 Plan.

there will be a voter registration table at the mixer for new teachers or for anyone attending who is currently not registered to vote.
A new feature of this education mixer, says Lisa, will be an opportunity for business people who attended schools here, or who have met teachers who teach their children, to write down on white boards some of their heartfelt memories and thoughts about education.
Those boards in turn will be taken to the respective schools to be displayed throughout the year in teacher lounges or other appropriate locations – “where teachers can be reminded that they are appreciated by local business,” said Lisa.
