Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Santana Maria Brissette, 37, and Arthur Loren Kaufelt, 55, both of Kingman, Thursday (7/30) evening. Brissette was arrested for burglary, conducting a chop shop, theft of means of transportation, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and a probation violation warrant issued by Mohave County Superior Court, all felonies. Kaufelt was arrested for burglary, conducting a chop shop, theft of means of transportation and possession of burglary tools, felonies. Approximately 8:16 p.m., deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity at a residence in the 700 block of S Bosque Road. The reporting party, a neighbor, said the owners were out of town and no one should be at the residence. Upon arrival, deputies observed lights on inside the open garage and observed a truck inside the garage. Deputies heard a gas powered tool being operated inside the residence. Deputies took a male subject later identified as Kaufelt into custody as he was exiting the garage. As deputies entered the garage they observed smoke from metal being ground or cut. Deputies further observed a blue van that was being cut into pieces. Later, the van was determined to have been reported stolen to the Kingman Police Department. During the investigation, deputies learned there was a female subject inside the residence. Deputies entered the residence announcing themselves without any response. Deputies located the female subject identified as Brissette hiding in a utility closet. A records check showed Brissette to have a warrant arrest. Brissette was taken into custody. Inside the residence deputies located a glass pipe with residue and a small plastic white cap containing a white crystal substance. During conversations with Kaufelt, he said that he found the van in a wash. They were transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail without incident.
