col cityBoth sides have disclosed witnesses who could be called in a civil rights lawsuit targeting the Arizona-utah border towns of Colorado City and Hildale. The case that alleges the towns discriminated against those who were not members of the polygamous FLDS church sect is set for trial in January in Phoenix.
Prosecutors allege that the towns denied city services to non-FLDS members such as utilities and police protection. Attorneys for the towns deny the allegations.
The town’s former police chief and the former bodyguard and ex wife of imprisoned FLDS leader Warren Jeffs are among the state’s 44 witnesses, according to the Spectrum newspaper. The newspaper in St. George said the towns have listed 46 potential trial witnesses.
