10523840_10153112746689813_2800862339510970348_nRecently the Colorado River Women’s Council held their annual “Women Helping Women” event.  This helps the women and their children currently residing in the Westcare facilities.  Thank you and our heartfelt appreciation to the businesses and organizations in the community who donated items, money and time for this event: Fort Mohave Storage,  JC Penney, Stage, Walmart, Soroptomist International, DES office-ResCare, Clipper Crew, Jean Jeffrey Salon, Shear Genius, Pals, Salon by Houston, Carol Bowden of Mary Kay , Christy Venus of First Chiropractic, Ginny Clem with Origami Owl, Loke Lau of Aloha Entertainment & Sound, and the Colorado River Women’s Council members. The Women Helping Women event provided help with preparing resumes.  There were hair stylists, manicurists, make-up artists and massages available.  While some were being pampered, others were selecting clothes, shoes, purses and jewelry which were all donated by the community. Breakfast was provided by Cathy Stubblefield & Perkins Restaurant and lunch was donated by Mohave Steakhouse, Sam’s Club, Mohave Electric Company & Lori Fonzi.  A lunch for the children was also provided by Little Caesar’s Pizza and Rose Jacobs with Stout Wellness Center provided breakfast for all the workers and service providers. The afternoon was filled with door prize drawings and gifted speakers giving advice and inspiration on various topics to help the women transition back into the work force. Speakers included, Darlene Hiltner with Community Financial Wellness, Dr. Christina Goldstein-Charbonneau with All Women’s Medical Center, Ashleigh Miller with Mohave Community College, Cristy Sturgis with The Goodwill-Job Connection and Brenda Heiselt with Harrah’s Laughlin Casino.  The women were given hope to overcome their situations and encouraged to become a valuable part of the community.
