Hundreds of people turn out at Phoenix Police Union (PLEA) Headquarters for a benefit barbecue in honor of Officer David Glasser, who was shot and killed last week while responding to a burglary call. People there say they came out of respect for Glasser’s sacrifice and the sacrifice all police officers make on a daily basis.
They also saythis is an emotional story for them and they feel for his family and his fellow officers. PLEA President Ken crane credits the community for making this barbecue success and he says those not attending can donate to Glasser’s family online at
. Glasser’s funeral is scheduled for Thursday morning and will be open to the public. The suspect was also shot and killed.
