Cottonwood police battle it out with a group of thugs at a Walmart parking lot.  Department of Public Safety Spokesman Raul Garcia says police were called to a Cottonwood Walmart late Saturday night after a female employee had been assaulted by several suspects inside the store.  When police arrived, the

suspects were in the parking lot and immediately attacked police.  Nine suspects fought with police when someone pulled a gun and shot an officer in the leg.  Police shot and killed one of the suspects.  A second suspect was shot in the stomach.  Police arrested seven suspects. Garcia says “a total of eight officers and another Walmart employee were assaulted in the parking lot during the fight and seven of those officers sustained minor injuries to include lacerations and bruising.”  The 31-year-old officer shot in the leg is expected to make a full recovery.  The condition of the female employee assaulted by the suspects is unknown.
