download (1)County Clerk Diana Alba will have her Laughlin office open on Wednesday, Dec. 31 so couples planning a New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day wedding can get a marriage license there instead of needing to drive to Las Vegas. “New Year’s Eve is always a busy day for us since so many couples get married that night or on New Year’s Day,” Alba said. “Opening our Laughlin office for special hours on New Year’s Eve will hopefully spare some couples a long, anxious drive to Las Vegas.” The Laughlin office, which is at 101 Civic Way, will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31. The office is usually only open from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Alba also announced that the Laughlin office will be closed on the New Year’s Day holiday, and then reopen for business on Jan. 2. The Clerk’s main Marriage License Bureau office is located in downtown Las Vegas, just three blocks south of the Fremont Street Experience. The office is at 201 E. Clark St., which is on the south side of the Regional Justice Center. The office is open from 8 a.m. to midnight every day, including holidays. The Clerk’s Office usually issues about 300 marriage licenses on Dec. 31. The office issues about 135 marriage licenses on a typical Wednesday. Couples planning on getting married here are encouraged to complete a marriage license pre-application, which is available online through the County Clerk website. Completing the pre-application is not required, but would save time for the couples. The application can be found by going to the County website at, and then select “Get a Marriage License” from the Most Popular drop down list on the left. After completing the application online, the couple will be issued a reference number, which they should bring to the Marriage License Bureau in addition to proper identification, such as a driver’s license or passport (a complete list of allowed identification and other information is available through the Clerk’s web page). Marriage licenses cost $60.
