Some Kingman City Council meetings may be held in the auditorium of the Mohave County Administrative complex starting July 5. An enabling intergovernmental agreement (IGA) approved by the city council May 16 will be considered by the Board of Supervisors on June 5.

Mayor Monica Gates suggested consideration of use of the more spacious county facility months ago when the Council Chambers was overcrowded when the new Council took office.

The proposed IGA contemplates that the City Council would conduct its two regular meetings each month at the county facility for a monthly fee of $300. That figure represents the estimated cost of a security guard and the Information and Technology staff member who would engineer the meeting through the telecommunications system.

Officials noted that council meetings held at the county facility would not be televised live on TV 4, but can be recorded for TV 4 playback. The meetings would still be streamed live online for the benefit of the internet audience.
