monumentMohave County formally opposes the effort to designate the Grand Canyon Watershed as a national monument. The Board of Supervisors recently passed a resolution officially protesting the proposed designation that has split Arizona’s Congressional delegation.

Supervisor Buster Johnson warned a Presidential declaration can designate the monument without Congressional approval. He said the designation would eliminate most public use of the 1.7-million acre area both north and south of the Grand Canyon.
