The Mohave County Sheriff’s office is investigating the discovery of cylinders in Fort Mohave. Spokeswoman Trish Carter said a family that was target shooting at the rock quarry east of the landfill came upon the first cylinder the evening of January 3.

Carter said a man shot the cylinder which exploded and damaged a vehicle and a side by side. No one was injured.

Carter said sheriff’s deputies located a second cylinder on January 4 that was safely detonated by bomb squad personnel. The cylinders resemble a scuba tank and are about 24 inches in length.

Anyone with information about the cylinders is asked to call the sheriff’s office.
