A driver hit in a wrong way crash does not survive, and now the man who hit her faces a slew of charges. The D-P-S’ Bart Graves says 39 year old Steven B. Martin entered an off-ramp, heading south on northbound Interstate 17 in Central Phoenix.

A D-P-S officer saw his headlights coming towards him and tried to stop him, but the driver got around him. Martin then continued for a mile before crashing into two vehicles, a Kia S-U-V and a Crown Victoria.

26 year old Phoenix Fire Department dispatcher Megan Lange died at the hospital hours later. She had been heading home from work around 1 a.m. when the crash occurred. Martin and his passenger suffered minor injuries and were treated at the hospital. The Crown Victoria driver was unhurt.

Martin faces charges of Second Degree Murder, Endangerment and Aggravated Assault. D-P-S believes he was impaired but toxicology test results are pending.
