For the first time in several years, Mohave Community College is offering the certified nursing assistant (CNA) program during the summer semester on the Bullhead City, Kingman, and Lake Havasu City campuses. The application deadline to register for the program is April 27. “The CNA program provides people who are interested in nursing with the education to earn an entry-level certification to give them opportunities to start working in numerous health fields,” said Cindy Garrison, MCC’s practical nursing program director. “The program is one of the shortest paths to an allied health certification that MCC offers.” Nursing assistants provide basic patient care including feeding, bathing, dressing, taking vital signs, serving meals, tidying rooms, setting up medical equipment and observing patients’ conditions under the direction of an LPN or RN. The program will be offered from 5-9:45 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning on May 11 on the Bullhead City campus at 3400 Highway 95, from 5-9:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning on May 12 on the Lake Havasu City campus at 1977 Acoma Blvd., West, and from 1:30-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning May 19 at MCC’s Detroit Avenue Center at 1801 Detroit Ave. in Kingman.
