Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies and detectives responded to a suicide and attempted homicide report Tuesday (4/7) morning. Approximately 5:15 a.m., deputies responded to a residence in the 2500 block of E Nez Perce Road. Medical was staged nearby. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the reporting party who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his head. Deputies located a deceased 59-year-old male victim inside the residence. The reporting party identified as Wayne Sander, 48, said that his roommate shot him before he shot himself, committing suicide. Sander further said that his roommate was distraught about his medical condition. Medical responded and transported Sander to Valley View Medical Center in Fort Mohave where he was airlifted to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he is currently listed in fair condition. The initial investigation has determined that the 59-year-old male victim died of a gunshot wound to the head. The identity of the deceased victim will be released after next of kin has been notified. This case is being investigated as an attempted homicide/suicide. Autopsy results are pending.
