An off-duty Maricopa County Sheriff’s Deputy has been assaulted by teen suspected of shoplifting.  According to Phoenix Police an 18-year-old man was trying to steal several bottles of liquor at a Phoenix grocery store when an off-duty sheriff’s deputy tried to arrest him.  The teen threw a bottle at the deputy who

then cuffed the teen.  While hand-cuffing the suspect, the teen threw his head back and struck the deputy in the face.  The deputy was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.  The teen was booked on several charges including resisting arrest.
