The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deputy-involved shooting that involved a domestic violence incident.  Deputy Dwight D’Evelyn says a 46-year-old woman called 9-1-1 after she spotted her ex-husband, 58-year-old William Nelson, following her in her car.  The woman slowed down to make a turn

when her ex pulled a gun and fired a shot that shattered her window.  Nelson took off, but police found him driving toward Camp Verde when the pulled him over.  Nelson got out of the car armed with a handgun and the deputy shot him in the leg.  Nelson was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive.  The victim claims Nelson had threatened suicide earlier in the day.
