A Maricopa county Sheriff’s Deputy has been shot while conducting a traffic stop in Tempe.  Deputy Joaquin Enriquez says the ten-year veteran was finishing up a traffic stop when someone drove up behind him and fired off multiple shots.  The deputy was struck in the legs and rushed to a hospital in serious, but stable

condition.  Enriquez says “We do know that this person who fired the rounds knew this was law enforcement as the vehicle was activated with red and blue lights, it was a traffic stop clearly, so he knew what he was doing as he fired at the deputy.”  The suspect then drove off.  Authorities are now searching for the suspect who drove off in a late 80’s to 90’s silver Cadillac.  Police have little to go on and anyone with information is asked to call police.
